What is Voluntourism?

Voluntourism, is volunteering while on holiday.  It is a very satisfying way to give back to a community or area to which you have come to appreciate.  Green Guardians is a voluntourism project that has been established by Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife in conjunction with Tourism Tasmania and Tasmanian Commercial Tourism Operators. It is an exciting way for travellers and locals alike to make a tangible conservational difference to the area in which they have chosen to visit, while at the same time enjoying the thrill of travel.

To be a Green Guardian means having the opportunity to make a conservational difference while enjoying the luxury of travel. To be a Green Guardian means to protect the natural values that are unique to Tasmania’s Parks and Reserves, while at the same time enjoying them.
